PCAO is proud to be partnering with Dr. Amy King to provide Trauma-Informed training, education and consultation to child and family serving providers across the state.
Our partnership with Dr. Amy began in 2020 after our Community Leadership Council identified that parents and caregivers needed more trauma informed parenting support during the Covid-19 pandemic. After successfully providing high-quality, trauma informed education to more than 100 families, Dr. Amy and PCAO made the decision to shift our focus from working directly with families, to working directly with the wide array of providers all across the state who are serving children and families in their role. We have been blown away by the response to this series as providers across the state have shown up to learn, share, grow, be in community and care for each other across disciplines and across geography.

The increased knowledge and skills gained by the social service and education providers has a systemic benefit for the families served now and throughout their careers. By strengthening the skills of the existing service providers, families receive more appropriate trauma- informed services that better address their needs and increase their resiliency.
These providers serve families in Baker, Clatsop, Columbia, Douglas, Malheur, Polk, Tillamook, Wallowa, and Yamhill Counties.
In addition, 66 Early Educators from 22 the Oregon Head Start Association sites were trained in these locations: Burns, Klamath Falls, Keizer, McMinnville, Newport, Redmond and Salem; Benton, Clackamas, Douglas, Lane, Linn, Multnomah, and Washington Counties; Mid-Columbia and Easter Oregon regions; and at Oregon State University and Oregon Coalition for Child Development.
With funding assistance from Spirit Mountain Community Fund, PCAO is providing Ongoing Monthly Consultations with Dr. Amy for providers who have been trained in the 8-week Cohorts. These Monthly Consults provide critical support for trained participants. Providers come together across geography and cultures to continue learning and refreshing their trauma-informed skills. They have noted the power of connection across disciplines to learn together, build supportive relationships, and problem solve complex cases. This group serves as a critical resource for creativity and community healing, promoting provider wellbeing and reducing burnout.
