ABOUT PREVENT CHILD ABUSE OREGON
Prevent Child Abuse Oregon (PCAO) is a provisional chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America, founded in 1972 to promote the healthy development of children and prevent child abuse.
PCAO’s mission in Oregon is to strengthen families in order to prevent child abuse and neglect. PCAO is most well for our signature Pinwheels for Prevention® campaign each April during Child Abuse Prevention Month.
We envision and Oregon where every child, regardless of race, class, culture or geography, lives in a safe home and community.
PCAO engages, mobilizes, and energizes communities to work at multiple levels: in amplifying the voices and perspectives of survivors of child abuse and those with lived experience of the child welfare system, by unifying and focusing the efforts of a partnership of child-serving nonprofit organizations, and by advocating at the legislative level for prevention policies that are guided and informed by families and communities impacted by the consequences of child abuse.
