We bring people together to cultivate communities where children and families thrive.
At PCAO, we work to ensure that all kids in Oregon have the opportunity to grow and flourish in environments where they are safe and valued. We do this by bringing together people and organizations who actively cultivate the conditions that allow young people and families to thrive.
We believe that every child deserves to be seen and celebrated—and every family deserves to be supported and connected.
We imagine an Oregon where all children are living healthy, happy childhoods of uncharted possibility.
Prevention in Partnership
We provide an active link between local and state organizations and the larger national fabric in targeting child abuse and its prevention. The work we do in collaboration with our partners fundamentally impacts the wellbeing of everyone in Oregon.
Policy and Advocacy
We advocate for policies that support kids and families while addressing inequities and the root causes of violence and abuse. We advocate independently and in partnership with other organizations who are leading the charge, locally and nationally.
We imagine systems and structures that could be better than they are today. Together, we can build an Ecosystem of Prevention with children and families at the core and robust support for families long before there are concerns for abuse or neglect.
Awareness to Action
We elevate important conversations year round in Oregon and across the nation to help raise awareness and invite communities to engage, together (you might have seen our blue Pinwheels for Prevention during Child Abuse Prevention Month in April!).
Supporting Our Work
When you support PCAO, you are supporting our work to make prevention a true priority, from policies and laws to the everyday ways we show up for children and families in our communities. PCAO is a fully-chartered chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America. Together, our network is leading the movement across the US to build Ecosystems of Prevention that prioritize child and family wellbeing long before there are concerns for abuse or neglect. We are committed to improving access to services, changing mindsets, and supporting stronger coordination and partnership among those who serve and support children and families. Join the movement, “because childhood lasts a lifetime!”
